Each year, pianist Guy Slapak organizes a benefit concert for the advancement of breast cancer care in memory of his mother, Orpa Slapak. This year’s event features Dr. Yusuf Hanun, Director of the Stony Brook Cancer Center and Dr. Eitan Globerson, pianist, neuroscientist, and Dean of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance.
Dr. Globerson will be joined by three former students currently pursuing their doctorates in the US – Guy Slapak & Fady Deeb (Stony Brook) and Benjamin Goodman (Mannes). A wine/cider/cheese reception will follow, sponsored by Stony Brook Hillel.

The next day, Dr. Globerson will present a lecture entitled Our Brain as Pianist. Dr. Globerson received his PhD in neuroscience from Bar Ilan University and is currently on sabbatical at Yale. The lecture is hosted by Professors Perry Goldstein, Music and Lorne Mendell, Neurobiology.

This Saturday, June 21st, seven of your neighbors will open their beautiful gardens to the public to help Long Island families struggling with the catastrophic illness of a child. Please come out and support your neighbors and these families!
The event will run from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Proceeds will go to Contractors for Kids, a non-profit dedicated to assisting these families.
